Sheepskin
- The Choice for millennia
Sheepskin or shearling fleece continues to be a timeless natural choice.
For centuries, Australian sheep farmers have know the virtues of
100% sheepskin. The Australian geography and environmental conditions are
uniquely suited to the rearing of the world's best quality Merino sheep,
used in the production of our boots. Merino sheepskin wool is lightweight,
strong and supple with an incredibly soft feel. Sheepskin is fur, leather
skin on one side with wool fur on the other. Sheepskin is not a layer of
wool or synthetic material, glued to pig or cowhide as many lesser quality
companies offer up as genuine sheepskin.
The
Wonders Of Sheepskin
Ounce for ounce, sheepskin is stronger than steel. Your sheepskin boots
will last for years, with minimum care. Impossible to copy synthetically,
sheepskin and it's wool fibers offer an astounding list of natural
qualities. Sheepskin wool does not shed, because it's attached to the
skin. It's not woven and then brushed up, like wool pile fabric that's
loose enough to be pulled out or worn off. Sheepskin wool is embedded into
the leather.

Warm
in the Winter and Cool in Summer
Sheepskin wool is soft, resilient and is naturally thermostatic.
The fibers "breathe" to act just like a natural
thermostat for your body. These fibers are hollow, and can absorb up to
30% of their own weight in moisture without feeling wet. This quality
allows for the wicking of moisture away from foot to the outside air
keeping you perfectly dry, regardless of the weather. In winter sheepskin
is a natural insulator trapping airspaces between the fibers capturing
your body heat. The free flow of air between you and the sheepskin fibers
is a comforting change to the clamminess of lamented pigskin, cowhide and
synthetic fleece materials found in cheep boots often mistakenly marketed
as "Sheepskin Boots". Additionally, sheepskin contains lanolin,
which will moisturize your feet for additional comfort.
Sheepskin
is washable
Warmbat Australia boots can be gently hand washed to maintain their fresh
appearance by using a sheepskin shampoo. We have constructed our boots to
have our removable fleece covered insole for easier care. These insoles
can also be washed to keep their freshness.
Sheepskin Is Organic
Sheepskin is a pure organic product and is unlike any other fiber in the
world. Sheepskin will return, in time, to it's constituent shape. This
means that your Warmbat Australia boots will conform to the shape of your
foot. This unique sheepskin property offers you a more customized fit for
additional comfort.
What
kind of sheepskin do we use?
Warmbat Australia uses 100% original Australian Merino
sheepskins, the finest premium grade sheepskin pelts
selected for their density, strength, and fine wool
quality. The hides are tanned with the best technology
available, in our factories around the world. Australian
Sheepskin is a world commodity and is shipped worldwide.
Merino sheep breeds provide the best hides for boot
products for many reasons. The leather side tends
to be thicker and more durable, and the wool itself
is very dense and retains its shape. It is soft and
lightweight that has a rich suede texture on the outside
and the smooth gentle fleece lining on the inside.
It's the perfect material for the manufacturing of
quality sheepskin Warmbat boots, which must endure
a lot of wear and tear, yet keep its shape and look
good for years to come.
