Sustainability

Sustainability is a top priority at Warmbat.

We strive to produce in harmony with people, animals, and nature, creating the best possible products. We do this by continuously improving our products and the production process. This way, we not only increase wearing comfort but also explore new ways to reduce our ecological footprint to protect the environment. We innovate to improve, and this is reflected in our high-quality products. After all, sustainability starts with quality.

Supply chain

Sustainability also means improving production methods throughout the supply chain: we collaborate with leather and wool suppliers who continuously optimize their production processes regarding waste and water management. We ensure that packaging and shipping are also sustainable. Collaboration with partners is essential in this process. Starting in autumn 2022, all packaging will be fully recyclable, compostable, and chemical-free.

Animal friendliness

Warmbat uses exclusively 100% Merino sheepskins and wool in its slippers, boots, and accessories. Merino sheep are a breed found primarily in Australia and New Zealand. The hides and wool from this type of sheep are prized and praised for their quality, softness, strength, breathability, and temperature-regulating properties.

The leather, suede, and wool are all natural byproducts of the global meat industry and not specifically bred for their skins. Warmbat uses whole hides instead of shorn wool in its products, and therefore no mulesing is used in the products we purchase from our suppliers. Furthermore, Warmbat uses only leather and wool produced in accordance with strict laws and regulations in Australia and New Zealand to prevent and eliminate animal suffering.

What is mulesing and does Warmbat use it?

Mulesing is the removal of skin from the back of Merino sheep to prevent flies from laying their larvae on the sheep and becoming infected. However, this is a very animal-unfriendly method, which is done during the shearing process. We source our leather and wool according to our values and with the help of our technicians to ensure the highest quality product is produced under the best conditions. Warmbat does not use shorn wool in its products, but whole hides, and therefore, there is no mulesing in the products we buy from our suppliers.
