Cold feet? Here’s how to keep your feet warm at home.

Cold feet at home are a nuisance. Especially on cold days, you naturally want nothing more than warm, comfortable feet. But why do some people suffer from cold feet more easily than others? And what can you do to keep your feet warm?

A good pair of slippers can make a big difference. Natural materials such as Merino wool are particularly well known for their warmth and breathability.

Our tips for combating cold feet

1. Choose warm, breathable materials

A thick pair of slippers doesn’t automatically mean your feet will stay comfortably warm. The material plays an important role.

Merino wool is a natural type of wool known for its soft feel and temperature-regulating properties. The material helps retain heat when it’s cold, whilst remaining breathable. This makes Merino wool particularly suitable for slippers that you wear indoors for long periods.

2. Wear warm slippers instead of just socks

Socks naturally keep your feet warm, but a lot of cold can be transferred through the floor. This is especially true if you have a hard floor at home, such as tiles, concrete or wood.

A well-lined slipper provides an extra insulating layer between your feet and the floor.

At Warmbat, the slippers are lined with soft Merino sheep’s wool. This makes them feel wonderfully warm and offers the comfort you’re looking for during a relaxing day at home.

3. Keep your feet dry

Warm feet are not the same as damp feet. A good material must therefore not only retain heat but also be breathable.

Merino wool has natural properties that help regulate moisture and temperature. This means the material can remain comfortable even as your feet get warmer throughout the day.

4. Pay attention to the sole of your slippers

The sole also plays a role in keeping your feet warm. A sturdy sole provides an extra layer between your feet and a cold floor.

What’s more, a good sole is handy when you pop outside briefly – for example, to fetch the post or grab something from the shed.

5. Choose the right size

A slipper that’s too small can be uncomfortable. Your toes need enough room to move naturally.

But a slipper that’s far too big isn’t ideal either. If your foot is constantly sliding around, walking becomes less comfortable.

So choose a size that fits comfortably without your feet feeling constricted.

6. Give your feet a rest

Sometimes the best way to get warm feet is simply to relax for a while.

Take off your shoes, slip on your favourite warm slippers and make yourself comfortable. A cup of tea, a blanket and a moment to yourself will do the rest.
